Pixar has to have some of the best animation out there right now. I read a great interview with them about a year ago where they were laughing at all the animators trying to make their cartoons as realistic as possible. The true art is in drawing from real features that we recognising them but exhaggerating them in a way that resonates with people's emotions. The best example is of course the lamp and the baby lamp. Absolutely featureless, but with a few little gestures familiar to any parent-child relationship.. we immediately imbue them with all the bonds that we experience in our own filial connections.
